Dow & MEGlobal partner to become 4-H Champions

In a unique partnership approach, Dow Chemical Canada ULC and MEGlobal Canada became 4-H Champions this fall. Funding from the two companies will support 4-H at the regional level and the provincial 4-H People Developing People (PDP) program, enabling youth to gain leadership skills and abilities while developing life skills.

“We thank Dow and MEGlobal for working with Alberta 4-H to assist many Alberta youth in achieving superior outcomes,” says Bruce Banks, CEO of the 4-H Foundation of Alberta. “We look forward to working with Dow and MEGlobal in order to enhance Alberta 4-H and continue to develop the leaders of tomorrow.”

Over 6,500 Alberta youth are enrolled in the 4-H program. In addition, more than 2,400 adult volunteer leaders help make Alberta 4-H the most highly-regarded youth development program of its kind. Alberta 4-H also recognizes the commitment and generosity of its dedicated sponsors as being of supreme importance to the success of the organization.

With operations in both Fort Saskatchewan and Prentiss Alberta, Dow and MEGlobal see the role 4-H has in building strong rural communities and are proud to help the local clubs achieve their goals. While both have contributed individually to 4-H, a partnership approach provided the companies an opportunity to fund specific programs consistent with their philosophies on community sustainability.

"Dow Chemical Canada is very pleased to support 4-H programming that brings development opportunities to over 8,000 members, volunteers and leaders each year," says Joe Deutscher, Site Leader, Alberta Operations. "Like 4-H, Dow is committed to building sustainable communities, by building the skills of our people."

"At MEGlobal, we see our contribution as an investment in developing the leaders of tomorrow and strengthening our communities," says Bob Brandt Vice President of Manufacturing, MEGlobal. "Within our MEGlobal family there are many 4-H families, so in that sense, the sponsorship benefits our local community, our employees and our company."

Dow Chemical Canada ULC, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, employs approximately 1,000 people in Canada. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Dow Canada and its affiliates have manufacturing locations in Toronto, Ontario; Fort Saskatchewan and Prentiss, Alberta; and Varennes, Quebec.

Building communities since 1917, Alberta 4-H has been mentioning the youth of this province in the ways of leadership and communication, all the while equipping them with confidence, life-applicable skills and a network of friends that spans the entire country. With 250,000 alumni, 4-H is proud to be the #1 youth organization in the province.
